Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Safety Officer, to be based at Engineering Services on Bentley Park near Carletonville, Gauteng. The successful candidate will report to the Engineering Manager.

Minimum Requirements…

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
  • National Diploma in Safety / Risk Management or equivalent at NQF Level 6 (advantageous)
  • Trade Certificate (advantageous)
  • SAMSOC 1 & 2
  • Valid First Aid Certificate
  • Investigation / Tap Root Training (preferred)
  • Audit certification for ISO 9001, 14001 and OHSAS18001
  • Valid EB drivers’ license
  • Proficient  in MS Office (Word and Excel)
  • Verbal and written Communication Skills in English

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

  • 3 Years’ experience in a similar role in an Engineering Workshop environment
  • Must not have a criminal record

      The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

  • Effective cost control through efficient safety management practices
  • Effective self-management in alignment with MRC values and leadership initiatives
  • Effective stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth workflows
  • Accurate, timely completion of Safety Officer’s Inspection and Logbook
  • Accurate, timely, thorough investigations of incidents / accidents
  • Proactive risk mitigation and compliance
