ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
We are currently seeking an experienced and highly-skilled rigger to join our hardworking team. In this role, you will demonstrate your experience and expertise and show your commitment to a safe work environment. You will ensure that all loads and equipment are lifted and set properly, demonstrating consistent commitment to safety at all times. You will work as part of the team, ensuring our operation runs smoothly and on schedule.

 

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
Ensure that all machinery is set, aligned, and levelled on completion of lifting/rigging
Attach and detach loads safely and according to procedures
Communicate with all team members effectively
Ensure that you are in compliance with all safety rules and regulations
Monitor and maintain (schedule maintenance with external service providers) all rigging equipment to ensure safe operation
Maintenance and inspections on all rigging and lifting equipment;
Report all safety concerns/issues to management immediately
Set up and break down necessary equipment
Create job-specific procedures as needed
Properly select gear for the job
Maintain control of all loads at all times
Manoeuvre loads through difficult and confined spaces
Work cooperatively with erection team and service providers to meet requirements
Legal inspections on overhead and mobile cranes;
Ensuring that cranes are in good working condition;
Drawing up of rigging lifting plan on every task;
Performing all lifting tasks safely;
General lifting and moving of loads safely in the workshop and surface services environment.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 (Matric / N3) certificate
Rigger trade test (Red Seal)

 

Experience:
Significant work experience as a rigger (minimum, 2 years)
Must be up to date, and willing to comply with all OSHA and MHSA regulations/standards
Familiar with all necessary safety equipment
Able to assess each load and select proper equipment for the job
Solid working knowledge of all rigging equipment
Able to inspect rigging equipment to ensure it is in good working order
Experienced with crane site establishment
Solid math skills for calculating load requirements
Physically capable of working in demanding conditions
Able to sit, stand, bend, work on your feet and lift 25kg on a regular basis
Excellent vision and hearing
Not afraid of heights or climbing ladders, scaffolding, etc.
